In 1519, the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan set out on the first voyage to circumnavigate the world.<br />
<br />
Sailing for Spain, Magellan began his search for a route to the East Indies by traveling down the coast of South America.<br />
<br />
Magellan's fleet reached Cape Virgenes and concluded that they had found a passage because the waters were brine and deep.<br />
<br />
Four ships went through the 373-mile long passage which Magellan called "Estrecho de Todos los Santos" or "Canal of All Saints," as the date was November 1st, "All Saints' Day."<br />
<br />
It came to be called the "Strait of Magellan."<br />
<br />
On the other side of the strait, Magellan saw the sea very still and peaceful, so he gave it the Portuguese name "Mar Pacifico" meaning "Pacific Ocean."<br />
<br />
The first European to see the Pacific Ocean was Spanish explorer Vasco Nuñez de Balboa who had crossed the Isthmus of Panama in 1513, though he called it "Mar del Sur" meaning "southern sea."<br />
<br />
Magellan sailed for weeks without sighting land. His food supplies dwindled and rotted, and men began to perish from scurvy, malnourishment, and dehydration.<br />
<br />
They sighted a small uninhabited island, restocked supplies, and set sail again on JANUARY 28, 1521.<br />
<br />
They reached the Marianas, Guam and then the Philippine Islands, which were later named for King Philip II of Spain.<br />
<br />
Magellan communicated with native tribes through his Malay interpreter, Enrique.<br />
<br />
They traded gifts with Rajah (King) Siaiu of Mazaua who guided them to the Island of Cebu.<br />
<br />
The story was that on the Island of Cebu, Magellan met Rajah Humabon, who had an ill grandson.<br />
<br />
Magellan (or one of his men) was able to cure or help this young boy, and in gratitude Chief Humabon and his queen Hara Amihan were baptized as Christians, along with 800 of followers.<br />
<br />
Afterwards, Rajah Humabon and his ally Datu Zula entangled Magellan in a conflict with a neighboring chieftain, Datu Lapu-Lapu of the Island of Mactan.<br />
<br />
Magellan had hoped to convert Datu Lapu-Lapu to Christianity, but he was dismissive.<br />
<br />
On the morning of April 27, 1521, Datu Lapu-Lapu with around 1,500 of his troops confronted the Spaniards on the beach.<br />
<br />
Magellan was hit by a bamboo spear, surrounded and then killed.<br />
<br />
Magellan's crew continued to sail the ship, Victoria, and finally made it back to Spain in September of 1522.<br />
<br />
The Philippine Islands went on to become the most Christian nation in Asia, with 93% of its population of 93.3 million being Christian.<br />
<br />
The second expedition to circumnavigate the globe was in 1577 led by Sir Francis Drake.<br />
<br />
Francis Drake was born around 1540 amidst religious upheaval in England.<br />
<br />
During the Prayer Book Rebellion, 1549, his poor farmer father, Edward Drake, fled with his family to the coast where they lived on an old laid-up ship.<br />
<br />
Edward Drake was ordained as a Protestant minister and preached to sailors in the King's Navy, afterwards becoming a vicar of Upchurch on the Medway.<br />
<br />
Profoundly influenced, Francis Drake would later have religious services on his ship twice a day.<br />
<br />
Around the age of 12, Francis Drake was apprenticed to a ship transporting merchandise from France. The ship's master, having no children, eventually bequeathed the ship to Francis, which began his prosperous sailing career.<br />
<br />
During the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, Francis Drake sailed numerous times to the Caribbean for trade.<br />
<br />
He also raided Spanish ships and settlements, resulting in King Philip II of Spain calling him a pirate, El Draque, and offering the equivalent of six million dollars for his life.<br />
<br />
In 1577, almost 60 years after Spain's Ferdinand Magellan, Francis Drake began the second voyage to circumnavigate the world.<br />
<br />
Drake sailed down the coast of South America and before Tierra del Fuego, passed through the Strait of Magellan.<br />
<br />
Through violent storms, he sailed and raided the Pacific Spanish coast of America as far north as California.<br />
<br />
At Mocha Island, hostile Mapuche attacked Drake, seriously injuring him with an arrow.<br />
<br />
In 1579, Drake anchored north of San Francisco at "Drake's Bay."<br />
<br />
In the name of the Holy Trinity, he claimed California for the English Crown, calling it Nova Albion, which is Latin for "New Britain."<br />
<br />
Turning west, Drake sailed to the Moluccas Spice Islands of Indonesia where his ship, Golden Hind, almost sank on a reef.<br />
<br />
Drake made it across the Indian Ocean, around Cape of Good Hope and up the coast of Africa back to England in 1580, where he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth I.<br />
<br />
In 1588, Sir Francis Drake helped repel the Spanish Armada from invading England.<br />
<br />
Sir Francis Drake died aboard the ship, Defiance, JANUARY 28, 1596, after a failed attempt to capture San Juan, Puerto Rico.<br />
<br />
Matthew Fontaine Maury, the first superintendent of the U.S. Naval Observatory, was known as the "Pathfinder of the Seas" for pioneering the charting of sea and wind currents. He wrote in Physical Geography of the Sea, 1855:<br />
<br />
"The Bible called the earth 'the round world,' yet for ages it was the most damnable heresy for Christian men to say that the world is round ...<br />
<br />
Finally, sailors circumnavigated the globe, and proved the Bible to be right, and saved Christian men of science from the stake."<br />
<br />
In 1873, French novelist Jules Verne wrote Around the World in 80 Days.<br />
<br />
In 1929, the German-built Graf Zepplin made the first round-the-world flight (Weltrundfahrt) in 21 days.<br />
<br />
In 1931, Wiley Post made the first fixed wing flight around the world in a little over 8 days.<br />
<br />
In 1933, Wiley Post made the first solo-flight around the world in just over 7 days. He discovered the jet stream and pioneered use of the gyroscopic auto-pilot, radio direction finder and the pressure suit.<br />
<br />
In 1982, Ross Perot, Jr. and Jay Coburn, flying the Spirit of Texas, completed the first round-the-world flight by helicopter.<br />
<br />
The first person to orbit the earth in space was Russian-Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin on April 12, 1961, followed by American astronaut John Glenn, February 20, 1962.<br />
<br />
From 1981 to 2011, the Space Shuttle program flew 135 missions which orbited the earth launching satellites, interplanetary probes, the Hubble Space Telescope, as well as performing scientific experiments and building the International Space Station.<br />
<br />
In 1984, astronauts Captain Bruce McCandles and General Bob Stewart stepped out of the Space Shuttle Challenger and performed the first un-tethered extravehicular activities using Manned Maneuvering Units, while orbiting a million feet above the earth.<br />
<br />
In an interview with Reasons to Believe, October 1, 2000, General Bob Stewart stated:<br />
<br />
"Your first view of the home planet is breathtaking. Maybe that's how God intended it to be viewed ..."<br />
<br />
General Stewart continued:<br />
<br />
"I had been teaching a Sunday school class here at High View Baptist Church in Woodland Park and the class had decided that they wanted to study Genesis ...<br />
<br />
The message I hope to get across is that you don't have to give up your intellect to be a Christian ... It gets harder to reach a person for Christ when that person is highly educated and sure of the primacy of science in this world ..."<br />
<br />
Stewart continued:<br />
<br />
"This universe was brought into existence out of nothingness; that it is especially fine-tuned for the existence of life on this rare, if not unique planet; and that God did it ..."<br />
<br />
General Stewart, who had been a combat helicopter pilot in Vietnam, continued:<br />
<br />
"I led off with a primer on relativity so my class could see the historical and logical background of this theory and lose their fear of it.<br />
<br />
This was necessary because I intended to talk about the creation event in terms of the big bang, and I wanted my class to understand that this was not just something physicists thought up in a vacuum.<br />
<br />
I wanted to approach the existence of human beings on this planet from the standpoint of their unique relationship to the Creator and back that up with some modern numerical biology statistics concerning the probabilities of life existing at all from random processes ..."<br />
<br />
General Stewart, who had logged 289 hours in space, concluded his interview:<br />
<br />
"I hope to continue to challenge the person who is scientifically oriented with the idea that life would be prohibitively unlikely unless it were created by God ...<br />
<br />
In my life I have made a remarkable transition from a person whose faith was in science to the exclusion of religion, to being a person who holds the Scriptures to be truth with science just catching up after 4000 years."<br />
<br />
The courage and risks of space travel were realized with the loss the Space Shuttles Columbia, which broke apart on re-entry in 2003, and the Challenger, which exploded just 73 seconds after lift-off on JANUARY 28, 1986.<br />
<br />
The Challenger's entire seven member crew was killed, including a high school teacher-the first private citizen to fly aboard the craft.<br />
<br />
In his address to the nation, President Ronald Reagan stated:<br />
<br />
"Today is a day for mourning ... a national loss ... The members of the Challenger crew were pioneers ...<br />
<br />
The future doesn't belong to the fainthearted; it belongs to the brave. The Challenger crew was pulling us into the future."<br />
<br />
Reagan continued:<br />
<br />
"The crew of the Space Shuttle Challenger honored us by the manner in which they lived their lives.<br />
<br />
We will never forget them, nor the last time we saw them, this morning, as they prepared for their journey and waved good-bye and 'slipped the surly bonds of earth' to 'touch the face of God.'"<br />
<br />
President Reagan added:<br />
<br />
"There's a coincidence today. On this day 390 years ago, the great explorer Sir Francis Drake died aboard ship off the coast of Panama.<br />
<br />
In his lifetime the great frontiers were the oceans, and a historian later said, 'He lived by the sea, died on it, and was buried in it.'<br />
<br />
Well, today we can say of the Challenger crew: Their dedication was, like Drake's, complete."<br />

Jesus, is being shown at the Sight & Sound Theatres in Lancaster, Pennsylvania for the first time on stage. The first performance was on March 10, 2018 and will play until January 5, 2019 (<a href="https://www.sight-sound.com/shows/lancaster/jesus/2018">https://www.sight-sound.com/shows/lancaster/jesus/2018</a>). The running time is 2 hours and 45 minutes. There are a total of 25 scenes over 2 acts with an intermission after the first act. Act 1 has 13 scenes and Act 2 has 12 scenes.<br />

<b>A Word from the Director</b><br />
From the Jesus guide/program, Producer and Director Joshua Enck shares that Jesus was 3 years in the making and it all started with the production team's immersion with the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The immersion led to an "overwhelming sense of God's love [that] filled [their] hearts…love that rescues." Josh closes by saying, "It is not even necessarily a story of Jesus' life. It is a story of Jesus' love, which we believe, is life."<br />
<br />
<b>Storytelling and Scenes</b><br />
On the way to the theatre I kept thinking, "what scenes where going to be shown?" If they show all in the Bible about Jesus, 2 hours and 45 minutes is not enough. However, what would they include to tell the story of Jesus sufficiently? I was impressed with the way they were able to tell more about Jesus by maximizing the 180 degree stage. It was through the use of memories (e.g. when Mary remembered the time with Joseph and Jesus as an infant. Some scenes would use either the main or side stage as the person remembering while the memory would play either simultaneously with the main character would narrate or would pause. <br />
<br />
<b>A Bird's Eye View (of Production)</b><br />
From a bird's eye view, there were a few scenes that received more attention compared to the many versions of Jesus movies I have seen. Among them are: <br />
<br />
Nicodemus explaining to the Pharisees that Jesus has shown and is God's Love; (John 3:16-17 (KJV) 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." <br />
<ul>
<li>The man in Gadarenes who was freed from Legion; </li>
<li>Lazarus' time with his sisters, the time before his death, and the time after his resurrection from death. While Jesus was on the way back to see Lazarus four days after he died, he said that Lazarus was sleeping; when the disciples did not understand Jesus explained that Lazarus was dead. When the disciples had questioned the timing of their return and why they could not return earlier, Jesus said that it was so "their faith would be built/increased." </li>
<li>Scenes were added to show more about Judas Iscariot and how part of the betrayal of Jesus was fed by Judas' desire to become a merchant and his perception that Peter and fisherman were gullible in following Jesus.</li>
</ul>
The show starts almost in darkness with the only visible light coming from the lights in the ceiling which look like stars. Then a voice is heard reading from John chapter 1: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. (John 1:1-5)" <br />
<br />
In addition to the "love that rescues" the stage production of Jesus echoes the words in John 1 verses 9 through 14 "That (Jesus) was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."<br />
<br />
Scene 2 adds to a powerful beginning of the show with the introduction and singing by the Boanerges brothers (Mark 3:17), James and John, named by Jesus as the sons of Thunder. The introduction of Peter was more subtle with a seagull relieving itself above his head, and then Jesus going on his boat. Jesus called Peter unto the boat and asked him to sail and cast his net. As they were leaving the dock, a voice shouts (Peter's mother), "Who is that with you?" This left me to ponder that Jesus also wants to go with us even before we know who He is. This scene shows that He wants to be next to us while we are working. Peter was a fisherman and He went out on one of His fishing trips. Most importantly, that any work we do simply on our own strength is in vain (when Jesus asked Peter to take out his boat and cast his net, he had just come back from a fruitless fishing trip); but when Jesus is with us from the beginning of the trip (or with us from the beginning of the day-or project-or work) then that work will be greatly blessed. The time when Jesus was with Peter and he cast the net on the "right" side, there was a plentiful bounty!<br />
<br />
<b>Production</b><br />
It was about 2 years in (2016) since the last time I have been to the Sight & Sound Theatres. They have definitely improved and raised the bar in live stage production. There were two scenes where the Sight & Sound's trademark use of "flying" appeared in Jesus. The first was the angel flying high above the audience towards the stage after Jesus was buried and placed behind the stone. The second was after Jesus' resurrection and was received up into heaven (Mark 16:19). <br />
<br />
The combination of both stage and screen effects to tell the story was excellently planned and executed. This was best experienced in scenes where there was water. The stage effects were clearly seen and experienced in the stage production of Moses, where he was floated by his mother in a basket (an ark of bulrushes daubed with slime and with pitch - Exodus 2:3) along the Nile River (as an infant). The stage effects helped the audience feel that basket float along the Nile river.<br />

There were numerous scenes in Jesus that simply raised the bar. First was when Jesus had asked Peter to sail out again after he had just returned with empty nets. When they went out again to the sea in the "deep waters" the catch was so large they could hardly fit the bounty onboard the boat. Another was crossing the sea of Galilee to the Gadarenes. Maybe, the most iconic is when Jesus was on the boat with the disciples during the storm that was calmed and when Peter literally walked on water like Jesus and was walking towards him. The audience truly reacted the moment that Peter lost focus on Jesus and started sinking and was instantly helped up by Jesus when he called out his name for help. It was powerful visually and also powerful spiritually. By visually seeing that Peter was raised up and in faith walking on water; spiritually, we are shown that we too do not have to sink or drown underwater in the issues of life…we simply have to call on the name of Jesus, "cast our cares upon Jesus" who hears us, and responds by supernaturally letting us walk on water.<br />
<br />
The stage production was amazing, the scenes were fluid, the lighting was on point; with both stage sets, lighting, acting (dialogue) and choreography all in-sync and backed by a Hollywood grade soundtrack.<br />
<br />
<b>Animals</b><br />
The use of animals in the stage production of Jesus helped place a feeling of authenticity to the time period that could not be achieved alone with the use of sets and wardrobe/costume design. There were real live doves, goats, sheep, horses, camels, dogs, cats. Some of these animals that ran or walked through the aisles, such as horses, goats, and camels, gave the audience members a close-up feel of the action. There were also a few times when doves were released in the air.<br />

Where it was not possible to show animals in scale, there was use of animatronics, as in scenes 2 and 3 where there was a seagull in the docks of Capernaum; there was also the computerized/digital rendering and animation of the fish under the boats after Peter takes the boat out with Jesus after the first time they meet (scene 4 miraculous catch).<br />

<b>Summary</b><br />
In all, I was intrigued throughout the entire production, for the beautiful way the stage was used to share memories and other moments in the life of Jesus that would have taken too long if they were made separate scenes. The intermission was just a nice break to get the sweet almond snacks to munch on throughout the second Act. There were properly placed moments throughout to breathe and just be still and know that God was there. In the Sight & Sound production of Jesus, the Bible and the gospel (the Word of God) truly came to life on stage and in the hearts of the audience. God's love through God's Living Word, Jesus Christ, was evident through every scene; especially when the disciples did not want Jesus to die-but Jesus responded that if He were not to go to the cross, then the Holy Spirit would not be able to come to Earth. At that moment, it was clear, despite the struggle and prayer in the garden of Gethsemane, that Jesus would obey unto the death. That obedience allowed for Jesus' death over victory. Jesus' victory over death (seen with resurrection of Jesus and appearance after the resurrection) is God's ultimate love and reason for sending His only begotten Son to the world…so that we may be saved. Truly the audience becomes a witness of God's love through the life of Jesus Christ.<br />

Just like the exodus of Moses and the Israelites from Egypt, through the desert, and then the promised land; the production of MOSES has trekked from the stage, through cinemas in the United States, and then on to your living room (or mobile device).<br />

The epic biblical presentation of MOSES started on
stage.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>First, in the Sight & Sound
Theatres in Lancaster County, PA.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It premiered in March of 2014 and ran straight
through April of 2015.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>MOSES continued
stage production in Branson, MO during the 2016 and 2017 seasons.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The Moses stage production was seen and
experienced by 2 million people.<o:p></o:p></div>

From the live stage, it went to theatres nationwide in the
United States on September 13, 15, and 20, 2018.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It was originally scheduled for two shows; the
first on September 13 and the second on September 15; however, due to increased
demand, an additional showing on September 20, 2018 was included.<o:p></o:p></div>

The cinema showings included a behind-the-scenes look at the
40-year history of Sight & Sound Theatres which has reached more than 23
million visitors.<o:p></o:p></div>

It also echoes the comment of Jeff Bender, the Director/Producer of Samson at <a href="https://www.sight-sound.com/" target="_blank">Sight & Sound Theaters</a>. Talking about the history of the Samson Production presented in 2 Acts and 24 scenes, which took 3 1/2 years, Jeff says they saw the truth that "God's ways are NOT our ways." <br />

<span class="text 2Cor-12-10" id="en-AMP-29033">I had an opportunity to watch Samson at the Sight & Sound Theater in Lancaster County, PA during Sight & Sound Theater's 40th Anniversary (1976-2016).</span><br />

<span class="text 2Cor-12-10" id="en-AMP-29033">Watching Samson at the Sight & Sound Theaters is a unique experience because of the 180 degree field of view achieved with the use of a main stage in the middle and two "side" stages located on the left and right sides of the main stage. The main stage is normally the main focus for storytelling. The side stages engage the audience by telling the story of day-to-day activities (farming, herding, etc.). Sometimes the main characters use the side stages to begin and/or end a scene.</span><br />

<span class="text 2Cor-12-10" id="en-AMP-29033">It is interesting to note that Michael Niederer, who plays the role of Samson (and has been with Sight & Sound since 2013), uses 5 wigs to help tell the story of Samson. There are 2 wigs used in Act 1 and 3 wigs used in Act 2:</span><br />

<li><span class="text 2Cor-12-10" id="en-AMP-29033">Acting, Singing, and Dancing - Professional actors, singers and dancers are employed whether main or supporting roles/extras.</span></li>
<li><span class="text 2Cor-12-10">Stage/Prop/Costume/Design - The design and staging of props and costumes reflect the time period and story being presented.</span></li>
<li><span class="text 2Cor-12-10">Lighting - The on-stage lighting is controlled and designed for the 180 degree stage. The ceiling lighting is also used to show the night sky/stars.</span></li>

(Judges 13:1)</span></div>

There are many times Samson is challenged and gives in through persistence. First, during the wedding when he provides a riddle to the wedding guests and provides the answer causing Samson to lose the challenge and has to give 30 changes of clothing. The second time is when Delilah found out the secret to Samson's strength for the price of 1100 silver pieces.</span><br />

<span class="text 2Cor-12-10" id="en-AMP-29033"> One of the best scenes for me both visually and seeing the Spirit of God working mightily was Samson carrying the gate and two posts described in Judges chapter 16 verse 3; Samson defeating 1000 Philistines with the jawbone of an Ox, and the finale where Samson is called from prison and attends the Philistines celebration. </span><br />
<br />
<span class="text 2Cor-12-10" id="en-AMP-29033"> Sitting at the end of the aisle was the best part to see Samson carry the gate. This helps "bring the Bible to life." It also gives the audience an idea of the strength that God gave Samson.</span><br />

Wide Angle Lenses are very good at bringing your subject closer to you. This is a bit different than shooting with macro lenses where you can fill the image with your subject. For example, you can photograph a flower in a field. This flower can be in the foreground and be your main subject. The bonus is that because of the angle of view covered by the lens, you can see the fields, hills, farmhouse in the background. In the same macro shot you may have just the flower fill the image.<br />
<br />
<u>Wide Angle Lens on DSLR</u><br />
It is a different thought process when shooting with an ultra-wide lens. The lens I have access to now is a Canon 10-22mm on a Canon crop-sensor camera body. This is the lens that probably stays on the camera body the most. It has an equivalent focal range of 16-35mm (for a 35mm camera or full-frame sensor).<br />
<br />
<u>Wide Angle Lens on Camera Phone</u><br />
My favorite wide angle lens on a camera phone is still the Nokia Lumia 1020. It has a 41MP (2/3") sensor with Carl Zeiss Optics with a constant aperture of f/2.2 and fixed 26mm lens. It is a quirky device. It was designed with such a high resolution to avoid having to physically zoom-in. The idea was you can crop the image and still have a usable image. I never use the camera thinking that I would crop the image and "post-crop".<br />
<br />
This camera reminds me of the Nikon 5000 ("pre-dslr" camera) which also had a 2/3" sensor and had crisp color and focus. I think some people refer to them as bridge cameras. </div>

It has been a while since I have used a camera with a full-frame sensor. To be exact, the last full-frame sensor camera I used was the Canon 5D Mark II (which went on sale in November 2008). At the time, it was a great upgrade from the Canon 5D. The single largest reason for me to upgrade was the automated sensor cleaning system. Before this, it was mandatory to have a blower to remove any floating dust particles which plagued my Canon 5D.<br />
<br />
Now, after a lot of research on the full-frame sensor that may be a good fit for me, I am looking into a Nikon D750. I did look into the 5D Mark III and think it is a good camera. I am not considering the 5D Mark IV within the scope of this article because of price considerations.<br />
<br />
Before listing my reasons for the Nikon D750, listed below are the compelling reasons for the Canon 5D Mark III or Canon 5D Mark IV. I think if the Canon 5D's below kept the autofocus feature of the Canon EOS 3 (film camera) which allowed the camera to focus on what the photographer was looking at then there would be less reasons to switch.<br />
<br />
In general, I do find the color rendition of the DIGIC processors to be pleasing and up to this point my workflow has been optimized around Canon gear.<br />
<br />
<b><u>Canon 5D Mark III best features (Most of which are improvements over the 5D Mark II). Note: This is not meant to be an exhaustive list, only the top features that are important to me:</u></b><br />
<br />
<ol style="text-align: left;">
<li>Improved Autofocus 61 AF points (5D2 had 15) and can shoot at a higher ISO with less noise</li>
<li>Headphone Jack (for video this is essential to monitor sound)</li>
<li>Dual Card Slots (SD and CF)</li>
</ol>
<br />
<b><u>Nikon D750 best features:</u></b><br />
For me the deciding factors for this camera are:<br />

<ol style="text-align: left;">
<li>Focus - The Nikon autofocus system - the ability to focus on "eyes" for people photos</li>
<li>Dynamic Range - Dynamic Range is an important factor for me. Getting more highlights and shadows can benefit both color and black and white photography</li>
<li>Dual Card Slots (SD)</li>
</ol>
<div>
Since I am considering a solution that includes people photos then the Nikon D750 is a worthy option.</div>

I love the Canon EF 40mm lens (<a href="http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/ef_lens_lineup/ef_40mm_f_2_8_stm">http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/ef_lens_lineup/ef_40mm_f_2_8_stm</a>) for a number of reasons. The order below most likely represents the order of importance:<br />

1. Sharpness/Focus<br />
2. Lightweight<br />
3. Portable<br />
4. Quiet<br />
5. Good for photo and video<br />
6. Price<br />

Sharpness/Focus<br />
This is a very sharp lens. I have used this lens on a number of different camera bodies and the results are always sharp: Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 1D Mark IV, Canon EOS 60D, and Canon EOS SL1.<br />
<br />
Lightweight<br />
Canon website referenced above lists the weight at 130 grams. When I pair this lens with the Canon EOS SL1, I can shoot all day without having to put the camera down because I am tired. I can keep shooting from morning till night (or until the camera batteries are fully drained-whichever comes first).<br />
<br />
Portable<br />
This lens has been referred to as a pancake lens. Like a pancake it does not extended much in front of the camera compared to other medium telephoto to zoom telephoto lenses. While it is more noticeable on a camera body such as the Canon EOS SL1, it is hardly noticeable on professional bodies on the 5D and 1D series. <br />
<br />
Quiet<br />
It is quiet because it uses Canon STM technology. This is Canon's Stepping Motor that is designed to make shooting video a quiet experience. Non STM lenses typically tend to be noticeably noisy when shooting video. <br />
<br />
Good for photo and video<br />
Because it uses an STM lens motor it is quiet and fast enough that it is good for both photography and video.<br />
<br />
Price<br />
It is about $149.00. <br />
<br />
I have long been a fan of Ken Rockwell's article reflecting his motto of "<a href="http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/death-of-photography.htm" target="_blank">Don't Worry: Just Shoot</a>". Just as in the article, it probably took me about 5 years of worrying about what gear I have instead of just shooting. This article reflects my departure into the journey of "just creating better pictures." Ken, I have quoted you because although I have read your article a whole lot of times, it took a little while to live it. This year's conference will be on October 21-24, 2015 and the expo will be from October 22-24, 2015 at the Jacob Javits Center Convention Center. The best part this year is that the 7 train (New York City Subway's IRT Flushing line has been extended 1.6 miles from its prior end station at the heart of Times Square) to the 34th Street - Hudson Yards (<a href="http://web.mta.info/capital/no7_alt.html">http://web.mta.info/capital/no7_alt.html</a>).<br />

Having attended the last few conferences, this event will leave you with something new to ponder. Yes, it is a great place to find out the latest greatest gadgets (lenses, cameras, backdrops, lighting) and technological advances the photographic and imaging industry has made. However, this is also a great time and place to learn things you have always wanted to learn but never had the time. The best part is that you have the opportunity to learn from the best (from wedding, landscape, models to photojournalistic genres). You can even see the work of some up and coming and veteran digital film makers. The website says you can also attend "over <b>100 educational seminars, Photo Walks</b> and <b>Master Classes"</b><br />

When I was originally interested in learning all I could about getting started in Wedding photography, I attended PDN Photoplus. I had the chance to learn and personally meet: Rick Sammon (<a href="http://ricksammon.com/">http://ricksammon.com</a>) among my favorite landscape/nature photographers; Bob & Dawn Davis (<a href="http://bobanddawndavis.com/">http://bobanddawndavis.com</a>) - a husband and wife team who are one of the premier Chicago and Destination Wedding photographer based in the United States-and some of the warmest professionals you will ever meet; and even see Vincent LaForet (<a href="http://www.laforetvisuals.com/">http://www.laforetvisuals.com</a>) who was one of the pioneers of using the Canon 5D Mark II as an artistic and production tool for cinema.<b> </b>They do share one thing in common. A great talent to visualize and use their equipment as an extension of their imagination. The camera for them is like a painter's brush. The images they create are full of wonder and vibrant in color.<br />

It is also a great place to meet new and old friends and colleagues who share the same interest as you. According to the website you can join "<b>21,000 </b>professional photographers, photography enthusiasts, filmmakers, students and educators from around the world."<br />

Jesus is Amazing! Giving to those that receive him and believe on his name (as their Lord, Master and Saviour) the power to become the sons of God.<br />

Thank you God for giving us Jesus. His name is above all names!<br />

Philippians 2:9-11<br />

With the example of Peter, we see how Jesus responds immediately when we call for his help.<br />

Matthew 14:26-31<br />
26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. 27 But straightway <b>Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid</b>. 28 And Peter answered him and said, <b>Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee</b> on the water. 29 <b>And he said, Come</b>. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, <b>Lord, save me</b>. 31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?<br />
<br />
We also see that when Jesus call us, first he introduces himself, so that we know it is indeed Jesus who calls us. Second, it is good to confirm that we are being called by Jesus. Jesus will confirm the calling. Even when calling us appears to be walking on water and we do not know what we will stand on. Jesus is our solid rock on whom we stand. Let us pray for strength and focus on Jesus so that fear will have no room in us. And even then, when we begin to sink, let us call on Jesus "Lord, save me." Let us pray for a measure of faith so that we would not doubt.<br />
<br />
Even the reason God sent Jesus to the earth shows us that we have a hope of being saved.<br />
<br />
John 3:16-17<br />

It is entitled "131" and was submited as my official entry for the Solo Photo Book Month contest. According to the website, it is the worst photo contest because there is no prize. I think it ranks towards the top of the list for 2011 as one of the best projects/contests I've partaken. It gave me a goal to take at least 35 photos in 31 days to create 1 pdf file. I had no issue with taking 35 days. The challenge was taking a photo each day for 31 days. There were some days that didn't seem to be interesting visually, or maybe it was more that I had not been motivated to capture anything that day. So I learned that sometimes, it is in the general or even mediocre things we do that can serve as inspiration.
